Use your iDevices as a lightbox

The HelloPhoto iPad/iPhone app is a neat little addition to any photographer’s toolkit. It serves 2 main purposes:

1. A variable colour/intensity lightbox – great for providing a background when shooting small objects where you want to isolate them or minimise/remove shadows

2. In conjunction with another digital camera, the bright screen provided by the iPad can act as an illumination for slides or film negatives to then be photographed to digitise them. Various screen designs assist in precisely locating different negative sizes or you can set the whole screen to be illuminated.
